I'm not quite sure if this is a 'fair' or even 'good' critique, since I don't have the technical skill needed to comment on the quality of the drawing (and it's also just my interpretation of the piece), so I will just post is as a comment.

What is man but the combination of natural, divine and animalistic? The animal side can and will often rob us of our ability to be human, as we can see with the snail head and the insect legs. Why is that? Well, the natural/animal way of reacting is the one that takes no effort, as it works instantly, based on instinct - simple responses to simple stimulus, while the human reactions requires thought. Those animal instincts keep us rooted to the ground, as your bottom half shows, but there is also hope - the tree on the left clearly shows that metamorphosis is possible when the roots are taken away.

That's good - I wish all of it would go away right now! It was - 7C yesterday and 1C today - hope it keeps getting warmer.

I hope so too, I could do without winter all together, but it's showing promising signs of being over. We had our first chipmunk sighting today which means they are out of hibernation, a good sign of spring.

The little icon you left with the vibrating cheeks reminds me of an actual condition snails get. Have you ever seen one with a parasite? They ingest this parasite and it makes it's way up to their antenna eyes, and starts pulsating (like the cheeks in the icon). Once they have the parasite they feel compelled to go out on the end of a branch and stick their heads out, making them very vulnerable to birds, which eats them and spreads the parasite in their faeces. It's the first time I've seen an animal look like they are committing suicide, it's disturbing.

Oh Marc ...I know they're only snails....but how horrible that must be for them to get....I can't say I've ever noticed any like that ...and I have literally seen hundreds of them...I hope I never do!!....I had to find out about it....I found a film on utube....but I couldn't watch it  all...Poor things!!!

Yes, it really looks like they are in agony, and they want to end it all by offering themselves to the birds.
